Play:

You, Me, and Dupree under 21 million (+110) <1/1.1> WSEX

Small play this week as the books did a nice job of setting the lines for both You, Me, and Dupree and Little Man. I see no clear advantage with either one, but I see some value with You, Me, and Dupree. Owen Wilson is the big star in this one, with Matt Dillion and Kate Hudson providing some supporting starpower. This is Owen Wilson's big chance to essentially open a movie on his own, without a star named Vince Vaughn or Ben Stiller attached as well. His last chance to do this bombed horribly, as The Big Bounce went on to gross only 3.34 million in 2,304 theaters (a terrible 1,448 per theater average). While this movie does look funny, it has to compete with Little Man for the same audience which will harm the box office potential for both movies. Also, Dead Man's Chest will still be the dominant movie this weekend so neither You, Me, and Dupree nor Little Man will have a big opening. With You, Me and Dupree getting a sizeable opening at 3,132 theaters and Little Man getting a smaller 2,533 theaters that will give it one advantage. However, Little Man is PG-13 while You, Me, and Dupree is slapped with an R-rating, which will allow the younger kids to go see Little Man, giving it a boost with the targeted audience. Either way, I don't see either one having a opening over 20 million since both are targeting the same audience. Good luck all!

excellent points order. that R rating will diminish its appeal. Little man will certainly play better with kids and teens, and the wayans have somewhat of an established fan base.Dupree is kind of in no mans land.

I don't know what Universal and Sony are thinking releasing both of these on the same weekend, with Dead Man's Chest still bringing in a big audience. I'm dumbfounded.

I like your and joethor's thinking on this one.
Was leaning to over 21 after reading positive tracking info but I didnt reallize movie was rated R.
That changes alot in my mind regarding competition with a stoooopid ass looking, but probable moneymaker in LIttle Man. Matter of fact if I could get the right odds I would venture Little Man to outdraw Dupree.
I took it at under 22 -112 at pinny.

Good luck guys!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn, you are correct, it is only PG-13...seeing the trailer I figured it would be rated-R as the trailer seemed similar to Wedding Crashers. I don't know how they managed to get a PG-13 rating unless they made some cuts. Huge mistake by me. Still sticking with the under as the PG-13 rating may actually help as this movie won't be as "raunchy" as Wedding Crashers and college kids looking for a "mature" comedy may look elsewhere. With both movies PG-13 this will split the crowd even more so now.

I like the Under as well on YMD as well, better line available on Pinny. Tiny plays though, still celebrating from the huge Pirates win.

1* You, Me, and Dupree Under 22.5
1* Little Man Over 17
